Description

  • Lead, mentor, and provide technical direction to the mobile platform team.
  • Define, implement, and uphold engineering standards for mobile security, observability, performance, resilience, and release quality.
  • Act as a hands-on technical leader for shared mobile platform capabilities in React Native and TypeScript.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions involving React Native, native modules, and integrations across Kotlin, Swift, Objective-C, and Java.
  • Own improvements to CI/CD pipelines, build reliability, release workflows, and deployment processes.
  • Own mobile platform observability and crash reporting, including logging, analytics, exception monitoring, and production stability.
  • Partner with product feature teams to ensure smooth releases that meet quality, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
  • Drive improvements in automated testing across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Own and coordinate production incident management and release activities.
  • Collaborate with design and product teams to evolve shared UI components, platform standards, and the mobile design system.
  • Drive adoption of new tools, processes, and standards through mentoring, documentation, and training.
  • Identify opportunities to improve platform stability, developer productivity, and long-term maintainability.
  • Promote secure application development practices and compliance-aligned delivery in a regulated banking environment.
  • Evaluate future tooling evolution, including potential Expo adoption, in collaboration with the team.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in mobile engineering, including time at Tech Lead, Mobile Platform Lead, Staff, or Principal Engineer level.
  • 4+ years of production experience building and maintaining mobile applications with React Native and TypeScript.
  • 4+ years of experience with native mobile development using Kotlin, Swift, Objective-C, or Java.
  • Experience owning or significantly improving CI/CD pipelines, build reliability, release processes, deployment workflows, and developer workflows.
  • Strong understanding of mobile architecture, including React Native bridges, native modules, and platform-level decisions.
  • Experience owning or improving observability and crash reporting tools such as Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, or Datadog.
  • Strong experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end mobile testing tools such as Detox, Appium, or Jest.
  • Solid understanding of mobile engineering standards across performance, resilience, reliability, and quality.
  • 1+ year of experience leading a mobile platform team with responsibility for technical direction, mentoring, and engineering standards.
  • Track record of prioritising platform work to remove blockers and accelerate product delivery.
  • Ability to drive adoption of new tools and processes through documentation, training, and hands-on mentoring.
  • Experience setting a high-quality bar while balancing standards with team velocity.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across engineering, product, design, and compliance stakeholders.
  • Prior experience leading at least one significant technical or platform project end-to-end.
  • Experience managing or directly leading engineers with a people-first approach.
  • Prior experience in fintech, banking, or another regulated product environment (preferred).
  • Deeper native mobile development expertise beyond integration and maintenance support (preferred).
  • Experience evaluating or supporting Expo or similar React Native tooling migration considerations (preferred).
  • Exposure to shared platform components, design systems, or reusable mobile UI libraries (preferred).
  • Experience with secure mobile development practices or mobile security-focused work (preferred).
  • Familiarity with mobile performance optimisation, resilience patterns, or broader non-functional quality standards (preferred).
