Description

Handle medium voltage escalations for customers and suppliers and partner with engineering teams on solutions.
Perform warranty repairs, technical support, and extensive testing of SMA medium voltage products.
Test, troubleshoot, repair, and analyze SMA large-scale medium voltage systems in the field, including site visits and operations and maintenance support.
Use high-voltage test equipment to identify root causes for internal quality 8D reports.
Develop and document processes and procedures for SMA medium voltage products and related accessories.
Conduct DGA sampling, review DGA reports, and determine appropriate corrective actions.
Repair external leaks and cold-weld patches on medium voltage transformers.
Maintain accurate inventory counts of spare parts provided by SMA.
Collaborate with Global Service, Quality, and suppliers to deliver root cause analysis and keep customers informed of RCA status.
Perform maintenance activities in accordance with SMA product maintenance manuals and customer contractual obligations.

Requirements

Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Required certifications through AVO Training Institute or another accredited institution/trade school in Medium Voltage Transformer Levels I and II, Switch Gear and Circuit Breaker Maintenance with grounding and bonding, Electrical Safety for Utilities, and Substation Maintenance I and II.
Must be familiar with high-voltage test equipment and able to interpret the results.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is strongly preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
At least 5 years of experience in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications.
At least 5 years of experience with medium voltage equipment.
Prior experience with cold weld patch repairs and field transformer repairs.
Experience with pad mounted transformers, medium voltage terminations, and switchgear operation is preferred.
Knowledge of solar and/or alternative energy markets is preferred.
Knowledge of the National Electric Code is preferred.
Advanced knowledge of power plant measurement devices and techniques is strongly preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, is required.
Ability to work occasional nonstandard hours, including weekends and/or nights, depending on customer needs.
Ability to travel extensively within the U.S. and internationally.
Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively.
