Description

Assist with commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and analyzing SMA America utility inverters in the field via email, telephone, and site visits.
Develop detailed knowledge of SMA utility inverter products and related accessories, including third-party accessories used with the inverters.
Maintain accurate inventory counts of spare parts provided by SMA.
Work with high-voltage DC electricity, three-phase power, and inverter software and firmware.
Maintain high customer satisfaction while helping reduce field service costs.
Perform and maintain maintenance activities in accordance with SMA product maintenance manuals and customer contractual obligations.
Travel domestically and potentially internationally to support service needs and assigned sites.
Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is strongly preferred, or equivalent experience in the renewables industry.
At least 3 years of experience in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications.
Prior experience in the renewable energy industry is strongly preferred.
Ability to work nonstandard business hours occasionally to support service customer contracts.
Ability to work a nonstandard work schedule as needed or required.
Knowledge of solar and/or alternative energy markets is preferred.
Knowledge of the National Electric Code is preferred.
Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively.
This position requires significant domestic and possible international travel.
Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without visa sponsorship, including H-1B, OPT, CPT, or TN.
Must be able to perform field service work in environments that may include electrical hazards and extreme temperatures.
Must be willing to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, and kneeling.
