Description

  • Ingest, validate, and document data from new sources to ensure quality, consistency, and usability across the Medicare and Medicaid data ecosystem.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and technical guidance to federal researchers and healthcare analysts.
  • Answer data questions and respond to researcher inquiries from a variety of stakeholders.
  • Write and maintain production-quality code in Python, R, or SAS to clean, transform, and analyze healthcare data at scale.
  • Review analytic specifications and outputs to ensure alignment with business rules and research requirements.
  • Provide technical writing and revise existing output review guidelines.
  • Communicate and coordinate output reviews with team members and the helpdesk.
  • Support data dissemination efforts for CMS research use cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, public health, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of work experience, preferably in the healthcare or government data sector.
  • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with large, complex datasets.
  • Working knowledge of SAS, R, Stata, Python, or SQL for manipulating and examining large administrative health data files.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to spot patterns, inconsistencies, or data issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical teams and policy-focused stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
