Description

  • Oversee capital projects to ensure compliance with the Thermal Energy Services Agreement (TESA) and meet safety, cost, schedule, and quality goals.
  • Manage multiple industrial decarbonization projects through the full Stage-Gate process from proposal through operations and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with customers, suppliers, financiers, program managers, engineering firms, permitting authorities, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and schedules.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks through proactive strategies.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between customers and project stakeholders.
  • Oversee project procurement activities, including vendor and contractor bidding.
  • Monitor and report project performance across cost, schedule, scope, and risk metrics.
  • Lead bidding and negotiation processes with engineering firms, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Review bids and engineering designs for accuracy and completeness, and apply lessons learned to improve future projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of engineering and/or project management experience in a brownfield industrial construction environment, ideally in food & beverage, ethanol, chemical, or pulp & paper sectors.
  • 5+ years of project management experience leading major CapEx projects over $20MM involving multiple functions, disciplines, customers, and sites.
  • Proven experience managing engineering firms, consultants, suppliers, contractors, subcontractors, and internal resources.
  • Familiarity with fixed and rotating equipment, MW-scale electrical infrastructure, and the Stage-Gate project delivery process.
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical, piping, civil, structural, process, electrical, and controls disciplines.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment and managing industrial manufacturing equipment and controls.
  • Understanding of contract management, team building, and client relationship management.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills for conveying technical and non-technical information across diverse stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed, approximately 20% annually, including possible international travel.
  • Ability to work remotely from a home office and at project sites as required.
  • Preferred: 10+ years of experience in engineering and/or project management for brownfield industrial capital projects.
  • Preferred: 7+ years leading major CapEx projects over $20MM involving multiple functions, disciplines, customers, and sites.
  • Preferred: Experience working with an Owner/Operator rather than an EPC firm or General Contractor.
  • Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Preferred: Experience executing projects with grant funding at the federal, state, or local level.
  • Preferred: Understanding of project finance and experience working with multiple financial stakeholders.
