Description

  • Support the full federal budget process, including formulation, spend plan creation, contract closeout, and current-year budget execution.
  • Help develop the FPS FPMD Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution reference guide and deliver training to regional budget and financial staff.
  • Consolidate historical financial and budgetary records.
  • Provide financial and budgetary records management support.
  • Develop knowledge management materials through process and practice documentation.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for questions related to obligations.
  • Produce reporting on obligation timeliness, new obligation values versus contract closeout de-obligations, backlogs, and error rates.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to solve client challenges and improve business processes and internal controls.
  • Conduct background research and translate findings into clear written work products.
  • Present information verbally and facilitate discussions with representatives at all levels of the organization.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience developing and owning work products in Microsoft Office, including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • At least 1 year of professional experience in project management and program analysis.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience working on teams with strong interpersonal, team-building, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in learning federal financial execution topics such as reimbursables, the federal accounting cycle, and reconciliations.
  • Ability to independently conduct background research, structure written work products, and communicate findings succinctly.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust security clearance.
  • Interest in working with federal business systems related to accounting, accountability, and financial reporting procedures.
  • Professional experience and/or coursework in data analytics or data visualization tools such as MS Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik, SQL, or macros is preferred.
  • Professional experience and/or coursework in accounting or financial management is preferred.
  • Experience with business process re-engineering or optimization, including documenting procedures, conducting gap analysis, and identifying key performance metrics, is preferred.
