Description

  • Provide expertise on field strategies, research approaches, and regulatory requirements at the state, regional, and federal levels.
  • Prepare research designs and build research teams for archaeological projects.
  • Oversee fieldwork, data analysis, report preparation, and related tasks to meet project goals, budgets, schedules, and contract requirements.
  • Coordinate field, research, and lab tasks and ensure fieldwork is completed on time and to applicable standards.
  • Serve as the primary author and researcher on technical reports and ensure quality control and quality assurance of project deliverables.
  • Recommend and deploy appropriate technology and methodology for project work.
  • Prepare research articles, papers, and presentations for academic and industry venues.
  • Conduct field visits and occasional archaeological fieldwork.
  • Develop project proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Train and mentor archaeologists and report authors, while managing project staff and maintaining client and agency relationships.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Anthropology or a related field.
  • Based in or relocating to New Mexico.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience spanning field, laboratory, and office work.
  • Must meet the Secretary of the Interior’s professional qualifications standards for archaeology and be an RPA or eligible to become one.
  • Expertise in state and federal laws and guidelines governing cultural resources management.
  • Strong archaeological experience in Arizona and/or New Mexico.
  • Permits or eligibility for NM BLM and State Land permits.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and manage cultural resource studies in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Superior technical writing skills to produce high-quality technical reports and awardable proposals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Preferred: demonstrated experience obtaining permits across Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
  • Preferred: BLM and State Land permits in New Mexico and Arizona.
  • Preferred: understanding of ASM curation processes.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Flexible availability outside standard working hours.
  • Ability to travel.
