Description

  • Advise and coach managers on complex employee relations decisions involving conduct, performance, terminations, policies, and workplace practices.
  • Partner with People Partners and Legal to ensure employee relations issues are handled consistently and in line with legal requirements.
  • Support business leaders in addressing workplace concerns, co-creating action plans, and providing intervention when needed.
  • Interpret and apply company policies, employment laws, and regulations to guide employee relations inquiries and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential documentation and records for all reported matters and fact-finding activities.
  • Use HR analytics and data to identify trends, diagnose root causes, and recommend business and people initiatives.
  • Advocate for an inclusive workplace and support broader DEI efforts across the company.
  • Drive accountability and operational excellence in case management, priorities, and projects.
  • Identify employee relations risks related to organizational and operational changes and develop proactive response plans.
  • Partner with Talent Development, DEI, People Operations, and other teams to improve programs, policies, and processes.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience, including deep expertise in employee relations, workplace conflict, and performance management.
  • Must be able to work and operate during Pacific Time Zone hours.
  • This role is eligible to be fully remote, with occasional work at a Samsara office or offsite events as needed.
  • Strong business and people acumen, with consulting, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of U.S. employment and human resources laws, regulations, policies, principles, concepts, and practices.
  • Ability to interpret and apply applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to collaborate, influence at all levels, and keep leaders informed while making sound judgments.
  • Strong attention to detail in documenting employee relations issues.
  • Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial or confrontational situations.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and experience assessing business risk.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, iterative, and ambiguous environment.
  • Strong bias for action and process orientation.
  • In-depth understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion issues as they relate to employee relations.
  • BS/BA and JD preferred.
  • Experience with international labor practices strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a technology environment preferred.
