Description

  • Lead, develop, and grow the Rowan engineering team while setting a high bar for technical judgment, product quality, customer trust, and execution.
  • Translate Rowan’s strategy into engineering plans and shipped product capabilities in partnership with product leadership.
  • Own technical direction for Rowan, including decisions around AI, orchestration, workflows, safety, and system architecture.
  • Stay close to the full product experience across conversational interfaces, orchestration, memory, app surfaces, detection systems, and escalation paths.
  • Drive projects to completion by clearing blockers, aligning stakeholders, making decisions, and shipping high-quality work.
  • Build dependable AI systems and engineering practices, including eval frameworks, observability, approvals, fallbacks, recovery paths, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Data, Operations, Legal, Support, and Engineering leadership on roadmap tradeoffs and high-leverage bets.
  • Coach engineers through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, growth plans, and tailored feedback.
  • Help the team improve product craft and move beyond chat toward proactive, trustworthy assistant experiences.
  • Stay current on AI engineering tools, workflows, and patterns and adopt improvements where they help the team.

Requirements

  • Experience shipping production agentic software and leading engineering teams, including senior ICs in complex or ambiguous domains.
  • Strong product judgment with the ability to connect customer needs, product experience, and technical architecture.
  • Excitement for AI as an execution layer, with practical understanding of orchestration, tools, workflows, evaluation, approvals, observability, and recovery.
  • Hands-on or deeply practical familiarity with LLM applications, agentic systems, workflow orchestration, and moving prototypes to production.
  • High standards for quality and trust in systems that act on personal finances.
  • Comfort driving outcomes in ambiguity and making tradeoffs without waiting for perfect clarity.
  • Ability to lead through clarity and give engineers enough context to make strong local decisions.
  • Technical depth across some combination of backend services, product surfaces, data systems, AI workflows, operational tooling, or consumer fintech products.
  • Preferred experience with TypeScript, Node, React, React Native, GraphQL, Postgres, LLM applications, agentic systems, workflow orchestration, or consumer fintech products.
  • Preferred experience building probabilistic AI systems alongside deterministic execution paths, operational workflows, or human-in-the-loop review.
