Description

  • Lead forensic investigations to determine the cause and origin of electrical failures, equipment damage, arc flash incidents, power quality issues, system malfunctions, and fire or flood losses.
  • Perform site inspections, technical analysis, and root cause evaluations across industrial, commercial, institutional, utility, and energy environments.
  • Develop electrical restoration, repair, remediation, and reconstruction designs, including permit support, design specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and defensible technical reports for insurers, legal stakeholders, government clients, and private clients.
  • Serve as an expert witness in litigation, arbitration, and mediation proceedings when required.
  • Analyze electrical distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, motors, generators, control systems, protection systems, and renewable energy installations.
  • Provide project management and technical oversight for multiple projects, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely delivery.
  • Mentor and develop intermediate engineers, junior engineers, and Engineers-in-Training while supporting quality assurance practices.
  • Lead and help grow a regional team of electrical engineers across multiple offices in Canada.
  • Support client relationship development through meetings, presentations, industry events, and direct marketing efforts.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience, with a strong background in energy services or related industries.
  • Strong leadership skills and readiness to lead enterprise-level programs and regional teams.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations, including CSA, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC, and CEC.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with solid root cause analysis experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and presentations.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry concepts, terminology, and practices relevant to the role.
  • Experience with computer-assisted engineering and electrical design software.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30–40% and work in field, outdoor, industrial, confined-space, or at-height conditions as needed.
