Description

  • Design, build, and maintain high-performance APIs and frontends using Ruby on Rails and React.
  • Own the data architecture, including PostgreSQL data modeling, schema migrations, query optimization, and indexing.
  • Manage containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes and provision infrastructure using Terraform.
  • Improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines to increase developer velocity and system stability.
  • Implement zero-trust security controls, authentication and authorization, and encryption for data at rest and in transit.
  • Help design and support PKI certificate lifecycles and mTLS configurations for secure device communication.
  • Deliver production-ready, thoroughly tested pull requests and participate in technical design reviews before coding.
  • Provide constructive peer code reviews to protect branch integrity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business development and mission success, to troubleshoot technical escalations.
  • Support users whose field operations depend on reliable authentication, synchronization, and system availability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional full-stack experience building and maintaining production-grade applications at scale.
  • Deep expertise in Ruby, including Rails or similar frameworks, and SQL.
  • Strong experience building modern React applications with modular component hierarchies and complex application state.
  • Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, indexing strategies, query execution plans, transaction management, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
  • Experience using Terraform to provision and manage cloud infrastructure as code.
  • Comfort owning CI/CD pipelines and shipping full-stack applications to production safely.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate proactively in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.
  • Experience collaborating on designs before implementation and providing clear visibility into progress.
  • Preferred experience developing secure, high-availability software for the DoD, first responders, or public safety agencies.
  • Preferred familiarity with Team Awareness Kit (TAK) servers and clients such as ATAK, WinTAK, and CivTAK.
  • Preferred exposure to biometric data workflows, privacy regulations, encryption standards, and EBTS requirements.
  • Preferred experience in fast-paced startup environments.
  • Preferred experience designing APIs for mobile clients with offline synchronization and low-bandwidth constraints.
  • Preferred experience integrating LLMs or AI-powered systems into production workflows.
  • Preferred exposure to Kotlin, C++, C#, or Python.
