Description

  • Administer, maintain, and support SSRS environments hosted in Azure IaaS/VM-based infrastructure.
  • Manage scale-out SSRS cluster configurations and load balancing for traffic distribution.
  • Plan and execute version upgrades, patching, and server or environment migrations.
  • Manage SSRS encryption keys, including backup, restore, and synchronization across clustered nodes.
  • Implement SSRS security, including RBAC, Active Directory integration, and secure credential management.
  • Design, build, and maintain automated deployment pipelines for SSRS artifacts across Dev, Test, and Prod environments.
  • Enable repeatable, version-controlled, rollback-capable deployments and low-touch publishing for report writers.
  • Troubleshoot report performance and failures across SSRS rendering, SQL Server performance, and infrastructure or network latency.
  • Monitor system health, analyze logs, and implement alerting for execution performance, subscriptions, and resource utilization.
  • Develop backup and disaster recovery procedures, validate deployments with smoke tests, and serve as the primary escalation point for production incidents.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience administering SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) in enterprise environments.
  • Experience with SSRS installation, configuration, and scale-out clustered architectures.
  • Experience designing and operating load balancing and high availability for SSRS.
  • Experience with SSRS version upgrades, patching strategies, and environment migrations.
  • Experience managing SSRS encryption keys across environments, including backup and restore.
  • Strong understanding of SSRS internal architecture, including ReportServer, ReportServerTempDB, execution lifecycle, logging, and caching.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across SSRS, SQL Server, and infrastructure layers.
  • Experience operating and supporting production systems with an ownership mindset.
  • Experience designing or supporting automated deployment pipelines for report deployments.
  • Experience working in Azure VM-based cloud-hosted environments, including monitoring, logging, networking, and load balancing.
  • Strong monitoring, logging, and proactive alerting experience in production environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to support report writers and act as escalation lead.
  • Familiarity with Power BI and how it complements SSRS in an enterprise reporting strategy (nice to have).
  • SQL Server administration or performance tuning experience (nice to have).
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Azure DevOps, or Octopus Deploy (nice to have).
  • Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies in enterprise systems (nice to have).
  • Exposure to scripting or automation such as PowerShell or Python (nice to have).
  • Experience modernizing or migrating SSRS environments to cloud platforms (nice to have).
