Description

  • Own payroll compliance for a specific country or region and serve as the accountable expert in that jurisdiction.
  • Interpret local legislation and ensure it is documented and implemented across processes, systems, and customer workflows.
  • Translate statutory rules, payroll logic, tax calculations, thresholds, and edge cases into structured product and engineering requirements.
  • Partner with Product Design to create compliant, intuitive, and auditable user experiences.
  • Review specifications, test logic, and validate product outputs to ensure legislative accuracy.
  • Lead multi-country or high-risk audits from planning through remediation.
  • Establish audit frameworks that scale across new and existing jurisdictions and drive root-cause remediation.
  • Lead investigations and incident resolution for regional compliance issues and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Create scalable compliance processes, controls, SOPs, monitoring mechanisms, and governance frameworks.
  • Build training materials and documentation, and coach internal teams to improve compliance capability.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in payroll and employment compliance for a country or region, including how legislation translates into payroll calculations and system logic.
  • Proven experience leading audits, regulatory reviews, or country-level compliance programs.
  • Experience partnering with technical teams to convert statutory rules into product requirements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence Product, Engineering, Legal, Support, and Senior Leadership.
  • Confidence investigating high-risk or sensitive compliance scenarios with sound judgment.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching others to grow team capability.
  • Systems-thinking mindset with experience designing scalable frameworks, documentation, processes, and controls.
  • Comfort working in an async, fast-changing, fully remote environment.
  • Experience with automation and AI capabilities is expected as part of Remote’s role requirements.
  • Prior experience supporting go-to-market, customer escalations, or expansion initiatives is a plus.
