Description

  • Manage a small product team of 3-5 engineers across backend and frontend work.
  • Spend about 30% of time on management responsibilities while actively contributing to product development.
  • Participate in hiring for the team and support hiring efforts for peer teams when needed.
  • Own onboarding for new engineers joining the team.
  • Act as the spokesperson for the team and manage team dynamics.
  • Provide continuous, constructive feedback, guidance, and coaching to team members.
  • Support the growth and career development of each direct report.
  • Redesign how engineering work ships with autonomous agents as the default execution layer.
  • Propose and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows from specification through verification.
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives and use verification loops to ensure work is correct, secure, reliable, and scalable.

Requirements

  • Managed an engineering team of at least 2 people.
  • Extensive backend experience with Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic or automation workflows, or comparable systems, and improving them through iteration.
  • Ability to think in systems and close the loop on quality through clear specs, planning, and verification.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering and development principles and best practices.
  • Proven organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to inspire others, instill confidence, and understand team dynamics.
  • Ambitious, intentional about diversity, equality, and inclusion, and aligned with Remote's values.
  • Strong automation and AI capabilities with AI fluency.
  • Experience with backend systems in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment (preferred).
