Description

  • Manage a small product team of 3-5 engineers across backend and frontend work.
  • Spend about 30% of the time on management while actively participating in product development.
  • Lead hiring and onboarding for the team and support peers as needed.
  • Own team dynamics, provide continuous constructive feedback, and coach direct reports.
  • Support each direct report’s career growth and help the team develop as a group.
  • Redesign how engineering work ships with autonomous agents as the default execution layer.
  • Propose and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows from specification through verification.
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives in the codebase for use across domains.
  • Use tests, checks, evals, and guardrails to verify correctness, security, reliability, and scalability.
  • Promote Remote’s values and foster a kind, people-first, high-accountability team environment.

Requirements

  • Managed an engineering team of at least 2 people.
  • Extensive experience with backend development, especially Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic or automation workflows, or comparable systems, and improving them through iteration.
  • Ability to think in systems, define clear specs, break down plans, instrument verification, and close the quality loop.
  • Solid communication skills and strong knowledge of engineering and development best practices.
  • Proven organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to inspire others, instill confidence, and understand team dynamics.
  • Ambitious and intentional about diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrates strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency.
  • Experience working in an async, fully remote environment is relevant to the role.
  • Ability to start as soon as possible and work from anywhere in the world.
