Description

  • Manage a small product team of 3-5 engineers across backend and frontend work.
  • Spend about 30% of time on management while still contributing directly to product development.
  • Participate in hiring for the team and help with hiring efforts for peer teams when needed.
  • Own onboarding for new engineers joining the team.
  • Manage team dynamics, represent the team as spokesperson, and help bring out the best in each member.
  • Provide continuous, constructive feedback, coaching, and career development support for direct reports.
  • Help the team grow as a group and support each engineer’s professional growth.
  • Redesign how engineering work ships with autonomous agents as the default execution layer.
  • Propose and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows from specification through verification.
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives and use verification loops to ensure outcomes are correct, secure, reliable, and scalable.

Requirements

  • Experience managing an engineering team of at least 2 people.
  • Extensive backend experience with Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic or automation workflows, or comparable systems, and improving them through iteration.
  • Ability to think in systems, including defining specs, breaking down plans, instrumenting verification, and closing quality loops.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering and development principles and best practices.
  • Proven organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • A kind, people-first approach focused on efficient processes.
  • Ability to inspire others, instill confidence, and understand team dynamics.
  • Ambition and intentionality around diversity, equality, and inclusion.
  • Strong automation and AI capabilities, with AI fluency.
  • Commitment to promoting Remote's values within the team and the broader organization.
  • Experience leading or working in distributed, async environments is preferred.
