Description

  • Lead and support the Platform team while building a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and psychological safety.
  • Partner with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and Engineering Leadership to define priorities, plan work, and align the team.
  • Drive delivery of platform improvements that increase scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Run regular 1:1s and support engineers’ growth, motivation, and career development.
  • Remove bottlenecks, unblock the team, and make tactical decisions when needed.
  • Review code and technical plans and make targeted code changes to support the team.
  • Join customer calls to understand platform issues and incorporate feedback into team direction.
  • Evaluate and manage key vendor relationships, including usage, plans, and recommendations.
  • Support infrastructure upgrades, compliance work, and on-call coordination.
  • Own and improve deploy tooling and release safety practices such as canaries, blue/green deployments, and smoke tests.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading and mentoring engineering teams with a track record of collaboration and delivery.
  • Strong Platform or SRE background with experience maintaining large-scale applications.
  • Familiarity with Rails, Ruby, Postgres, AWS containerised environments, and Terraform.
  • Deep understanding of deployment safety practices such as canaries, blue/green deployments, and smoke tests.
  • Operational maturity, including experience with infrastructure upgrades, compliance, and on-call structures.
  • Strong written communication skills for remote-first, async-first collaboration.
  • Customer instinct and experience engaging stakeholders to translate needs into team direction.
  • SOC2 experience is a plus.
  • Experience operating rather than just understanding release safety practices is preferred.
