Description

  • Manage a small product team of 3-5 engineers across backend and frontend work.
  • Spend about 30% of the time on management responsibilities and remain actively involved in product development.
  • Participate in hiring for the team and support peers in hiring processes when needed.
  • Own the onboarding process for new engineers.
  • Manage team dynamics, serve as the team spokesperson, and help bring out the best in each team member.
  • Give continuous, constructive feedback and provide guidance and coaching.
  • Support the growth and career development of each direct report and the team as a whole.
  • Redesign engineering delivery so autonomous agents are the default execution layer.
  • Propose and operationalize agentic workflows end to end from spec and planning through execution and verification.
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives in the codebase and use verification loops to ensure quality, security, reliability, and scalability.

Requirements

  • Experience managing an engineering team of at least 2 people.
  • Extensive backend experience with Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic or automation workflows, or similar systems, and improving them iteratively.
  • Ability to think in systems, including defining specs clearly, breaking down plans, instrumenting verification, and closing the quality loop.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering and development principles and best practices.
  • Proven organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with efficient processes and a kind, people-first approach.
  • Ability to inspire others and instill confidence.
  • Strong understanding of team dynamics.
  • Ambition and intentionality around diversity, equality, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency.
