Description

  • Manage a small product team of 3-5 backend and frontend engineers.
  • Spend about 30% of the time on management work while actively contributing to product development.
  • Participate in hiring for the team and support hiring for peer teams when needed.
  • Own onboarding for new engineers.
  • Manage team dynamics and act as the spokesperson for the team.
  • Provide continuous, constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Support each direct report’s career growth and help the team grow as a group.
  • Redesign how engineering work ships with autonomous agents as the default execution layer.
  • Propose and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows from specification through verification.
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives and use verification loops to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable outcomes.

Requirements

  • Managed an engineering team of at least 2 people.
  • Extensive experience with backend development using Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic or automation workflows, or comparable systems, and improving them through iteration.
  • Ability to think in systems, including defining specs, breaking down plans, instrumenting verification, and closing the quality loop.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering and development principles and best practices.
  • Proven organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to inspire others and instill confidence.
  • Good understanding of team dynamics.
  • Commitment to Remote’s values and an intentional focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency.
  • Experience with backend engineering in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment (implied).
  • Availability to start as soon as possible.
