Description

  • Own the payroll product area end to end, including the software, customer experience, and internal team workflows.
  • Partner with the Engineering Team Lead and Staff Engineers on architecture, design quality, and technical direction.
  • Prototype, debug, and write code to de-risk ideas and answer open questions.
  • Own API surface design, versioning, backwards compatibility, and developer experience for integrations.
  • Identify root causes by observing manual workflows with specialists and operations teams, then prioritize fixes.
  • Drive adoption and hypercare after launch to ensure shipped work is actually used.
  • Collaborate with payroll and tax experts to research, define, and refine requirements.
  • Document decisions, reasoning, specs, and proposals in writing so technical thinking is reviewable.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Cursor and/or Claude Code, with the ability to autonomously build, debug, and ship functional code or prototypes.
  • Experience as a product manager in a high-growth company.
  • Experience working in payroll, HR, benefits, fintech, or a similar domain.
  • Strong judgment for both strategic prioritization and tactical feature scoping.
  • Demonstrated self-driven results that have improved a product.
  • Strong product design (UX) sense.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills across multiple departments.
  • Business-level proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Experience working remotely is a bonus.
