Description

  • Develop and execute the edibles product strategy and drive innovation aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead product briefs from concept through formulation, including scope, ingredient and flavor direction, feasibility, and financials.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop food scientists while fostering cross-functional collaboration.
  • Oversee formulation, sensory evaluation, ingredient and supplier qualification, product specifications, and commercialization handoff.
  • Provide onsite guidance during first scale-ups and troubleshoot formulation issues with manufacturing teams.
  • Manage the test kitchen, equipment, processes, facility maintenance, food safety, and equipment standards.
  • Monitor industry trends, consumer preferences, emerging technologies, market research, and competitor activity.
  • Track project timelines, budgets, milestones, technical details, and resource allocation; identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Partner with QA and Compliance to meet food safety, labeling, regulatory, and quality requirements.
  • Maintain quality-control processes and resolve quality or compliance issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Food Science, Culinary Science, Chemistry, or a related field; a master’s degree or PhD is strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience.
  • Food science or product development experience in CPG or food and beverage, including hands-on formulation and sensory evaluation.
  • Demonstrated success delivering significant business results.
  • Strong leadership, relationship management, communication, and global collaboration skills.
  • Ability to serve as both a technical and strategic leader while remaining hands-on.
  • Familiarity with FDA, OSHA, cannabis, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Active driver’s license or state ID; minimum age of 21.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and maintain regulatory or employee-badging compliance.
  • Willingness to work occasional extended hours for testing sessions and travel 10% to GTI manufacturing facilities; ability to lift up to 50 pounds, or 200 pounds with assistance.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $155,000–$170,000 USD, based on experience, qualifications, and location.
  • Potential eligibility for a discretionary annual incentive based on organizational and individual performance.
  • Remote work designation.
