Description

  • Work cross-functionally with Reddit Engineering to understand developer needs and iterate on solutions based on feedback.
  • Design and build backend systems, APIs, infrastructure, and platform capabilities that improve developer workflows.
  • Build scalable and reliable systems for both AI-powered developer workflows and core non-AI systems.
  • Lead high-impact developer tooling projects from code and design docs through stakeholder alignment and delivery.
  • Build tools and integrations that connect workflows with infrastructure, CI/CD, security, source control, deployment, and operations systems.
  • Design and implement maintainable APIs, services, libraries, and platforms for internal developer tooling at scale.
  • Improve team tools, processes, and best practices while raising standards for reliability, usability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Mentor engineers and help shape a roadmap that reflects real developer needs and delivers meaningful improvements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on, post-grad, non-internship professional software development experience, with backend, infrastructure, or platform engineering as a core strength.
  • 3+ years of industry experience with large-scale distributed systems and highly scalable, reliable services.
  • Strong proficiency with Go, including significant production experience.
  • Experience designing and implementing maintainable APIs using GraphQL, REST, HTTP, or gRPC.
  • Experience building platforms, developer tools, libraries, frameworks, or internal systems used by other engineers.
  • Experience with infrastructure, Kubernetes, cloud providers, or similar software delivery systems.
  • Hands-on experience using AI-powered developer tools and workflows, with judgment about where they can improve productivity.
  • Proven track record leading large, ambiguous, high-impact projects across teams with clear ownership from problem definition through delivery.
  • Strong user empathy and a focus on usability, reliability, scalability, and quality for internal engineering users.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, raising the technical bar, and making pragmatic tradeoffs.
  • Experience in developer experience, developer productivity, internal platforms, or developer tooling is preferred.
  • Experience building tools or workflows for internal engineering users is preferred.
  • Experience building or extending CI/CD systems and partnering on build, test, and release workflows is preferred.
  • Experience with GitHub Enterprise Server or large-scale source control platforms is preferred.
  • Experience with Python is preferred.
  • Experience measuring platform or developer productivity impact through experimentation, rollouts, analytics, reliability metrics, or qualitative feedback is preferred.
