Description

  • Set technical direction, standards, patterns, and reference architectures for assigned data domains.
  • Design and implement end-to-end data warehouses, lakes, pipelines, models, and integration patterns.
  • Serve as design authority by reviewing, approving, challenging, and documenting solution decisions.
  • Partner with business, engineering, product, platform, governance, and architecture teams to translate objectives into technical roadmaps.
  • Drive alignment across teams, resolve architectural disagreements, and influence adoption without direct authority.
  • Shape multi-year data roadmaps, modernization priorities, platform decisions, and build-versus-buy recommendations.
  • Ensure solutions meet security, privacy, governance, compliance, scalability, reliability, monitoring, and operational requirements.
  • Create reusable data products and documentation that support analytics, BI, AI, and downstream consumption.
  • Mentor data engineers and architects, lead design reviews, and contribute to hiring and the data community of practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Significant progressive experience in data engineering, data architecture, or solution architecture, including senior or architect-level work.
  • Experience leading significant data initiatives across multiple teams or business domains.
  • Strong knowledge of data lakes, data warehouses, streaming or batch pipelines, data modeling, and modern data integration.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms and modern data technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction and adopt standards across teams without formal authority.
  • Experience partnering with business leaders to define priorities, explain trade-offs, and support investment decisions.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, consensus-building, and technical decision-making skills.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or architects and operating effectively in ambiguous, delivery-oriented environments.
  • Preferred: experience in insurance, financial services, or regulated industries; data governance and compliance; AI/ML or advanced analytics; agile delivery; or enterprise architecture governance forums.
