Description

  • Handle and respond to data subject rights requests, privacy queries, and complaints within statutory timeframes.
  • Compile and maintain the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA) and other compliance documentation.
  • Complete Data Protection Impact Assessments and Legitimate Interests Assessments and gather supporting information from stakeholders.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the business on data privacy matters.
  • Help develop, update, and embed internal and external privacy policies, guidelines, processes, and practices.
  • Assist with the investigation, handling, and record-keeping of personal data incidents.
  • Support internal data privacy training, communications, and the network of privacy champions across the business.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of privacy controls and processes, track trends, and prepare reports for management.
  • Review and complete supplier due diligence forms and similar assessments.
  • Support the development and implementation of the information security programme, including certifications such as ISO27001.

Requirements

  • Law degree (LLB), Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL/PGDL), or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Experience working as a paralegal or in a similar legal role.
  • Exposure to data privacy or data protection matters through a law firm, in-house legal team, internship, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of UK and EU GDPR and core data protection principles.
  • Experience supporting a data privacy compliance programme, including handling data subject rights requests such as access, deletion, and rectification.
  • Experience partnering with a wide range of stakeholders and engaging, influencing, and advising people at all levels of the organisation.
  • A genuine interest in building a career in privacy law and data protection.
  • Relevant experience within a tech or digital business is preferred.
  • US data privacy experience is preferred.
