Description

  • Direct, manage, and ensure collaboration among Project Directors and Project Managers across global projects and portfolios.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for clinical programs, and in some cases directly manage program activities.
  • Serve as the primary point of escalation for study sponsors beyond project management.
  • Optimize profitability of the project management organization to meet or exceed budget targets.
  • Assess and manage resource allocation to ensure cost, time, and quality goals are met.
  • Select, train, develop, coach, and evaluate the performance of project leadership talent.
  • Provide technical guidance on scope definition, risk identification, escalation, mitigation, resource planning, goals, and deliverables.
  • Identify and escalate impacts to project scope, resources, schedule, or budget through standard methods.
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, working guidelines, project plans, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Business Development on opportunity development, proposals, budgeting, and bid defense preparation.
  • Manage project and program interdependencies to achieve milestones and deliverables.
  • Evaluate projects and implement corrective actions such as recovery of at-risk projects, re-scoping, postponement, or cancellation.
  • Measure and report KPIs and lead continuous improvement efforts.
  • Manage supervised staff workload and provide ongoing feedback, development, coaching, and annual performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a science or health-related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in clinical research, including extensive project management and line management experience, or proven competencies for the role.
  • Working knowledge of GCP/ICH guidelines and the clinical development process.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration in a team setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a customer service-oriented demeanor.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including overnight stays.
  • Experience managing complex, global trials (preferred).
  • Advanced degree (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
  • Direct experience in a global, cross-functional project management environment.
  • Proven people management experience.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, risk management, and change management.
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Executive presence with the ability to deliver complex presentations to senior management.
  • In-depth experience in pharmaceutical and/or device research.
  • Proficiency in project management software.
  • Excellent time management, negotiation, critical thinking, decision-making, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Salary range of $162,000 to $243,000 USD.
