Description

  • Direct, manage, and coordinate Project Directors and Project Managers across global projects and portfolios.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for clinical programs and, in select cases, directly manage project activities.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for study sponsors beyond project management.
  • Optimize project management profitability and support delivery against budget targets.
  • Assess and manage resource allocation to meet cost, time, and quality goals.
  • Select, train, develop, coach, and evaluate project leadership talent.
  • Provide technical guidance on scope definition, risk identification, escalation, mitigation, resource planning, goals, and deliverables.
  • Track, report, and escalate impacts to scope, resources, schedule, or budget.
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, working guidelines, project plans, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Business Development on opportunities, proposals, budgeting, and bid defenses.
  • Manage project and program interdependencies to achieve milestones and deliverables.
  • Lead evaluations and corrective actions for at-risk projects, including recovery, re-scoping, postponement, or cancellation.
  • Measure and report KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage staff workload and provide ongoing feedback and annual performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience in a science or health-related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in clinical research, including extensive project management and line management experience.
  • Working knowledge of GCP/ICH guidelines and the clinical development process.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including overnight stays.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience managing complex, global trials preferred.
  • Working knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
  • Direct experience in a global, cross-functional project management environment.
  • Proven people management, strategic planning, risk management, and change management experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Executive presence and ability to present complex information to senior management.
  • In-depth experience in pharmaceutical and/or device research required.
  • Proficiency in project management software.
