Description

  • Oversee and lead technical deliverables for the design, construction, and commissioning of BESS projects with third-party engineering and EPC firms.
  • Support the EPC leadership team on supplier and contractor management across multiple equipment vendors and construction firms.
  • Partner with Transmission, Interconnection, and Market Analysis teams on interconnection agreements for BESS project integration into the U.S. grid.
  • Assist with preparing and issuing RFQ/RFP packages to EPC contractors and engineering consultants.
  • Support the EPC Procurement team with project scopes of work, RFPs, schedules, budgets, cash flow projections, and technical contract requirements.
  • Attend meetings with project stakeholders including developers, contractors, consultants, and utility companies.
  • Travel to project sites before, during, and after construction to support project-related activities.
  • Provide input on permitting and regulatory applications and respond to stakeholder inquiries when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus in Power Engineering.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in project engineering, development, procurement/contracting, and construction management in power generation, utility, or transmission industries.
  • Experience with the design, construction, commissioning, and operation of high-voltage utility substations, switchyards, and transmission systems.
  • Experience working for or with a major utility is a plus.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects from feasibility evaluations through late-stage development, design, engineering, and construction.
  • Understanding of real property, permitting, regulatory matters, environmental compliance, interconnection, and transmission.
  • Knowledge of market dynamics related to major equipment, engineering services, construction services, and labor.
  • Strong understanding of the battery energy storage value proposition and/or engineering fundamentals of BESS projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and travel intermittently up to approximately 30% per year.
  • Persuasive, clear, and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, SharePoint, and Excel.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent, including Revu Bluebeam.
