Description

  • Prepare technical memoranda, reports, calculations, designs, drawings, specifications, permit applications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates for projects and discrete tasks.
  • Support project managers and senior staff in meeting project schedules and budgets, including identifying work outside the contractual scope.
  • Work with subconsultants under the direction of a Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager.
  • Serve as lead designer on less complex projects or discrete tasks and coordinate work with the project team.
  • Review calculations, design assumptions, and concepts to support quality control.
  • Contribute technical input to proposals by helping develop scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist with technical presentations and participate in client meetings.
  • Lead fieldwork activities such as surveying, GPS data collection, infrastructure inspections, water sampling, and construction observation.
  • Assist with construction administration by tracking submittals, preparing agendas and minutes, compiling construction reports, and monitoring schedules.
  • Mentor and provide on-the-job training to entry-level engineers and interns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of water supply or wastewater engineering design experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; ArcGIS experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience in engineering consulting is strongly preferred.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, PE license, or active pursuit of PE registration in a state where Apex works, or ability to obtain it by reciprocity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project teams and clients and to direct activities of less experienced staff.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced skill and proficiency in MS Office and other discipline-specific technical software.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
