Description

  • Own the roadmap, sequencing, specifications, quality, and rollout for storefronts, checkout, payments, the merchant OS, and the AI agent.
  • Set measurable product performance benchmarks across conversion, speed, approval rate, activation, retention, revenue per visitor, and user experience.
  • Lead and develop a team of principal-level product managers while setting a high standard for specifications, prototypes, launches, and KPIs.
  • Build direct relationships with top merchants, understand their workflows and pain points, and turn recurring issues into shipped improvements.
  • Define quality standards and evaluate the Phoenix AI agent for reliable, production-grade revenue decisions.
  • Partner with the CTO and engineering leaders to improve delivery predictability, prioritize valuable work, and eliminate waste.
  • Monitor competitors’ products, pricing, and roadmaps, and produce response plans within 48 hours of major developments.
  • Act as a strategic thought partner to the CEO on product direction and 12–18 month investment decisions.

Requirements

  • Experience as the #1 or #2 product leader at a growth-stage company.
  • Track record owning products where conversion, latency, reliability, and speed had direct economic consequences.
  • Demonstrated ability to move a product from behind a competitor to ahead on a measurable metric.
  • Strong hands-on product orientation, including testing workflows, identifying bugs, and working directly with customers.
  • Technical fluency sufficient to read pull requests, understand system and gateway migrations, and participate in architecture discussions.
  • Experience shipping AI products or LLM-powered features to production, with knowledge of evaluations, determinism, and reliability.
  • Experience building for customers whose revenue depends directly on product performance, such as fintech, payments, or commerce customers.
  • Ability to lead tactically, coach PMs and engineers, address underperformance, and maintain high execution standards.
  • Experience thriving in fast, resource-constrained, high-intensity startup environments within the last five years.
  • Preferred: ecommerce, direct response, high-risk payments, DTC store ownership, coding or AI prototyping, company founding, or early-stage operating experience.
