Description

  • Work closely with Technical Program Managers and Data Scientists as the technical expert for customers.
  • Use Phaidra’s platform and tools to put AI solutions into production.
  • Create facility models for ingestion into Phaidra’s product lineup as the subject matter expert.
  • Map tag data and review facility-specific Insights logic.
  • Support analysis and triage of systems during the support phase.
  • Work with the product team to identify and define product requirements based on customer needs.
  • Collaborate with other AI Controls Solutions Engineers and the Product team to help automate and scale the platform across thousands of customers.
  • Troubleshoot, triage, and analyze issues with control systems and equipment.
  • Develop and refine business processes, onboarding workflows, and documentation.
  • Lead deployment and support of multiple solutions, sometimes in parallel.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of work experience as a controls engineer, programmer, or in an equivalent role.
  • Expertise in HVAC and data center cooling control methodologies and strategies.
  • Knowledge of chiller plant fundamentals, configurations, and sequence of operations.
  • Understanding of applied thermodynamics for cooling systems, refrigeration systems, and hydronics.
  • Experience designing, programming, or working with industrial and commercial control systems and protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.
  • Understanding of air side chilled water and direct expansion cooling system applications and control strategies.
  • Experience programming control systems with PLC, ladder logic, text, or block programming languages.
  • Ability to operate independently as a Solutions Engineer.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, triage, and analyze control-system and equipment issues.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex domain and AI/ML concepts to different audiences.
  • Ability to translate customer-stated and implied needs into clear documentation for software teams.
  • Ability to read and write Python scripts to support Insights and tooling, in collaboration with software engineering.
  • Ability to own and manage large sections of documentation.
  • Ability to lead project delivery, mentor peers, delegate work, and collaborate across teams.
  • Good educational background in a related discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Control Theory, Applied Mathematics, or a related engineering/applied science field.
  • Ability to work from the USA and attend up to 25% travel.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the specified location; no visa sponsorship provided.
  • Preferred experience rapidly prototyping new technologies and converting them into commercially viable products.
  • Preferred experience building, owning, and operating codebases/services.
  • Preferred experience architecting services within cloud platforms.
  • Preferred experience applying AI and ML in controls applications.
  • Preferred experience with statistics, analytics, and optimization problems.
  • Preferred familiarity with XML, JSON, or YAML.
