Description

  • Work with Technical Program Managers and Data Scientists to put AI into production for customers.
  • Model facilities for ingestion into Phaidra’s product lineup and configure solutions to customer requirements.
  • Commission, tune, monitor, and support deployed systems through onboarding and the post-deployment support phase.
  • Define product requirements from customer specifications and translate customer needs into documentation for the software development team.
  • Lead deployment and support of multiple solutions in parallel, including triaging tickets and coordinating stakeholders.
  • Analyze solution performance and viability, troubleshoot control systems and equipment issues, and manage risk.
  • Serve as an internal and customer-facing subject matter expert for support, research, sales, and marketing initiatives.
  • Contribute to onboarding, new system creation, code repositories, and business process refinement.
  • Participate in site visits and customer support activities, including platinum support.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience as a controls engineer, programmer, or in an equivalent role.
  • Expertise in HVAC and data center cooling control methodologies, including chiller plant fundamentals and sequence of operations.
  • Understanding of applied thermodynamics for cooling systems, refrigeration systems, and hydronics.
  • Experience in controls design engineering or strong working knowledge of industrial and commercial control systems and protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.
  • Understanding of air side chilled water and direct expansion cooling systems and their control strategies.
  • Experience programming control systems with PLCs, ladder logic, text, or block programming languages.
  • Ability to read and write Python scripts in collaboration with software engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex domain and AI/ML concepts to non-experts.
  • Ability to own and manage large sections of documentation.
  • Educational background in a related discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Control Theory, or Applied Mathematics.
  • Strong experience working with data center operations teams and solving field operations problems.
  • Passion for problem solving and using scalable solutions to solve repeat problems.
  • Ability to support peers, pair with teammates, and use AI tools to improve workflows and automate tasks.

  • Preferred: Experience rapidly prototyping new technologies and converting them into commercially viable products.
  • Preferred: Experience building, owning, and operating codebases or services.
  • Preferred: Experience architecting services within cloud platforms.
  • Preferred: Experience applying AI and ML in controls applications.
  • Preferred: Experience with statistics, analytics, or optimization problems.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with markup languages such as XML, JSON, or YAML.
  • Role is open to candidates located in the USA or Canada.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the specified location(s) without visa sponsorship.
