Description

  • Support and extend the existing Perl-based payment gateway while production migration is underway.
  • Debug production issues and add features to maintain stability and high performance.
  • Design, develop, and maintain modern server-side components in Python.
  • Integrate third-party APIs and external payment services across legacy and modern platform layers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments in agile sprints and communicate effectively in English.
  • Participate in code reviews and help uphold high code quality standards.
  • Work with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud deployments.
  • Apply a product-focused mindset to understand business logic and end-user impact.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the engineering process and platform architecture.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience with strong Python expertise.
  • Experience with AsyncIO and FastAPI is preferred.
  • Experience with Perl, or a strong willingness to learn and work in Perl production code.
  • Solid experience integrating third-party APIs, including webhooks, callbacks, and retry policies.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, with GitLab preferred.
  • Experience with Docker containerization.
  • Familiarity with AWS, including Lambda and other cloud services.
  • Exposure to event-driven architectures such as Kafka or message queues.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • A clean-code mindset with the ability to explain engineering decisions clearly.
