Description

  • Design and execute a risk-based QA program covering key Second Line of Defense Financial Crimes activities.
  • Review and challenge Transaction Monitoring alerts, Suspicious Activity Report escalation decisions, customer risk rating governance, CDD/EDD reviews, and sanctions decisions.
  • Perform detailed QA reviews of 2LoD casework, memos, and decisions to assess accuracy, completeness, and alignment with internal and regulatory expectations.
  • Evaluate the quality of 2LoD oversight, including issue identification, escalation, and resolution.
  • Conduct horizontal and thematic reviews to identify systemic weaknesses, trends, inconsistencies, and emerging risks.
  • Develop and maintain QA methodologies, including test scripts, defect taxonomies, scoring frameworks, and sampling strategies.
  • Document QA findings, assign severity ratings, and produce management reporting and dashboards.
  • Track remediation of identified issues and support regulatory exams with evidence of effective QA oversight.
  • Provide independent challenge within Compliance and partner with Financial Crimes leadership, Model Risk Management, and Internal Audit.
  • Lead and develop a team of QA analysts while overseeing planning, execution, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • 7–10+ years of experience in Financial Crimes, AML, Sanctions, or Fraud.
  • Direct experience in 2LoD Compliance / Financial Crimes oversight or Quality Assurance / Testing of Financial Crimes functions.
  • Strong knowledge of BSA/AML and sanctions regulatory expectations.
  • Strong understanding of 2LoD responsibilities within a three lines of defense model.
  • Experience reviewing complex financial crime cases and providing oversight or challenge.
  • Strong analytical and judgment skills.
  • CAMS, CFE, CRCM, or similar certifications preferred.
  • Experience with Customer Risk Rating (CRR) or Transaction Monitoring model governance preferred.
  • Familiarity with regulatory exams and supervisory expectations for Compliance functions preferred.
  • Experience using data analytics or reporting tools in QA preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and challenge peers within Compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.
