Description

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs across non-services trades from architectural and structural drawings.
  • Produce accurate bills of quantities for commercial construction tenders within 4 to 5 week timeframes.
  • Review full drawing sets independently to identify scope inclusions, gaps, and ambiguities.
  • Enter quantities into Cubit or Costx and maintain structured, reviewable workbooks.
  • Liaise with the Estimating Manager and senior estimators to clarify scope and flag risks or documentation issues.
  • Manage multiple concurrent tenders and prioritize work against submission deadlines.
  • Build familiarity with the company’s standard rates and pricing methodology to progress toward full estimation capability.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 to 5 years of experience in a QS or estimating role within commercial construction.
  • Demonstrated experience performing quantity takeoffs on commercial construction projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings independently.
  • Competence in Cubit or Costx, with Costx accepted in lieu of Cubit.
  • Experience quantifying structural trades including concrete, steel, reinforcement, framing, cladding, and finishes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to self-check work before handover.
  • Clear written and verbal English communication skills for daily collaboration with an Australian team.
  • Experience working to fixed deadlines in a tendering environment.
  • Full end-to-end estimating capability is a plus, from takeoff through to rated tender price.
  • Familiarity with Australian, New Zealand, or UK construction standards and specifications is preferred.
  • Experience with a commercial head contractor is preferred.
  • Understanding of construction methodology and its impact on cost is preferred.
