Description

  • Oversee end-to-end multi-state, semi-monthly payroll processing for all employees.
  • Manage payroll lifecycle changes including onboarding, merit increases, department changes, terminations, and leaves of absence.
  • Process bonuses, commissions, garnishments, and other additional payments accurately and on time.
  • Validate, reconcile, and submit payroll runs and reports for final approval.
  • Ensure payroll practices comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Manage year-end payroll tax reporting, including W-2s, and stay current on statutory requirements.
  • Maintain, update, and troubleshoot payroll software and related system issues.
  • Partner with HR and IT on system upgrades and cross-functional integrations.
  • Prepare cost reports, variance analyses, and monthly journal entries for payroll and benefits.
  • Create monthly reconciliations for benefit invoices, payroll accounts, taxes, and equity records.
  • Support internal and external audits and maintain records according to retention policies.
  • Maintain employee equity data in Carta, process equity grants and exercises, and prepare grant information for Board approval.
  • Respond to employee payroll questions and identify process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of multi-state payroll experience in growing companies.
  • Global payroll experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience with major HRIS/payroll systems such as ADP, UKG, or Workday.
  • UKG Pro experience is preferred.
  • Strong ability to align payroll data with accounting systems, including journal entries and month-end reporting.
  • Ability to explain complex payroll and tax information clearly to stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Proven experience collaborating with HR, Finance, and external vendors.
  • Experience with payroll system maintenance, troubleshooting, and cross-functional integrations is preferred.
  • Experience supporting audits and maintaining records in accordance with retention policies is preferred.
