Description

  • Establish, grow, and lead the national field-based MSL team, including operating frameworks, SOPs, and best practices.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and manage MSL performance to ensure scientific and operational excellence.
  • Translate medical strategy into measurable field medical goals and initiatives.
  • Identify and engage key opinion leaders, healthcare professionals, and external scientific experts.
  • Oversee field support for clinical trials, including site education, patient recruitment, and investigator engagement.
  • Lead MSL participation in scientific conferences, advisory boards, congress planning, and other scientific forums.
  • Build infrastructure for compliant scientific insight collection, CRM operations, training, and data reporting.
  • Ensure MSL activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, industry codes, company policies, and the Orca Bio Code of Conduct.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on publications, medical resources, internal training, business planning, and strategic projects.
  • Maintain scientific and clinical expertise through continuing education and attendance at key meetings and symposia.

Requirements

  • Advanced scientific degree required: MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent doctorate-level clinical or medical degree.
  • 8+ years of Medical Affairs experience, including MSL experience and at least 3 years managing field-based MSL teams.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, mentoring, strategic thinking, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. pharmaceutical rules and regulations governing MSL activities.
  • Experience recruiting, developing, managing, reporting on, and tracking MSL performance.
  • Experience managing departmental projects and resources.
  • Experience developing relationships with KOLs and HCPs.
  • Cell and/or gene therapy experience preferred.
  • Experience in a small biotechnology company or startup preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in field medical launch planning and execution preferred.
  • Ability to travel domestically approximately 40–50% of the time.
