Description

  • Architect and implement backend services that integrate with Postgres and Databricks, with responsibility for scale, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Design and oversee data adapters that connect external imaging facilities, payers, and TPAs using healthcare data standards such as FHIR, HL7, and DICOM.
  • Write production-grade code and lead by example as a hands-on engineering leader.
  • Conduct code reviews, set coding standards, and promote engineering best practices for secure and compliant systems.
  • Design resilient systems that support graceful degradation, fault tolerance, error reporting, load testing, stress testing, recovery, and observability.
  • Write engineering documentation covering architecture decisions, technical milestones, and implementation plans for epics, features, and services.
  • Mentor backend and full-stack engineers while spending most of your time coding and architecting systems.
  • Partner with Product to translate business goals into efficient technical solutions and push back on poorly scoped approaches when needed.
  • Collaborate with DevOps to embed CI/CD, observability, security, and cost transparency into every service.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 8+ years of backend engineering experience with production software development and architectural responsibilities.
  • Strong expertise in Python, TypeScript/Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
  • Proven ability to design fault-tolerant, high-availability distributed systems and contribute hands-on in codebases.
  • Hands-on experience with healthcare data standards such as FHIR, HL7, and DICOM, as well as HIPAA and SOC-II compliance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers without direct management responsibility.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure, especially S3, Fargate, App Runner, and Route 53.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability platforms, and cost optimization.
  • Experience with data pipelines and integrations into Databricks or equivalent large-scale data platforms, including file ingestion and BI integration.
  • Familiarity with DICOM operations, processing, and PACS systems.
  • Background in healthtech, insurance tech, or other regulated industries.
  • Exposure to multi-agent systems such as LLMs or OCR to streamline workflows.

Benefits

  • Base salary of $140,000 to $190,000, depending on qualifications, skills, experience, location, and applicable laws.
