Description

  • Collaborate with Product, Security, and Engineering teams to define and continually improve Auth0’s technology stack and architecture.
  • Develop architect-level expertise in authentication and authorization and lead initiatives to enhance, scale, and evolve Auth0’s product offerings.
  • Embed within engineering teams for large projects and provide lighter-touch guidance for smaller initiatives.
  • Design, architect, and document large-scale distributed systems and broadly-scoped functionality across many services and components.
  • Write, optimize, and troubleshoot production code in Node.js and Go while pairing with feature teams (‘teach by doing’).
  • Implement features and create consistent foundations using cloud and platform technologies (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, MongoDB, Redis, PostgreSQL, etc.).
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve performance and scalability bottlenecks to support efficient resource use and a 99.99% uptime SLA.
  • Drive technical decision-making that balances simplicity, flexibility, reliability, cost, and performance.
  • Mentor engineers across the organization, participate in round-table discussions, and contribute to the Engineering Leadership Team.
  • Join the Incident Commander on-call rotation after onboarding/training to support high-severity incident response and improve operational practices.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software development experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working on cloud applications.
  • Deep experience with Node.js (JavaScript or TypeScript) and working in large Node.js codebases.
  • Experience building API-driven applications using REST and/or gRPC.
  • Experience with multi-cloud environments and container deployments, particularly Kubernetes in AWS and/or Azure.
  • Strong analytical skills for performance investigation, bottleneck identification, and optimization; familiarity with APM, tracing, and performance testing tools is a plus.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adjust style for different audiences (executives, customers, engineers, product).
  • Proven ability to lead company-wide technical discussions, achieve alignment, and drive decisions.
  • Knowledge of application security and cloud security best practices.
  • Familiarity with identity protocols (OAuth, OIDC, SAML) and experience in security engineering or application security (preferred).

  • Annual base salary range for specified locations: $244,000–$330,000 USD (actual salary depends on skills, experience, and location).
