Description

  • Develop and conduct high-fidelity CFD analyses of thermal-hydraulic behavior across the reactor core, reactor vessel, heat exchangers, power conversion, and balance of plant systems.
  • Design, model, and analyze thermal-hydraulic systems to support engineering decisions.
  • Develop and apply analysis methods that build confidence in design performance and reliability.
  • Perform engineering analyses spanning thermal, fluid, safety, manufacturability, and cost considerations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define design requirements and provide technical feedback to design teams.
  • Document analyses using modern tools and produce clear, thoughtful technical reports.
  • Support rapidly iterating design teams with technical input and analysis results.
  • Work within a highly iterative environment to help refine reactor and system designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a technical field such as nuclear, mechanical, or aerospace engineering.
  • Proficiency with STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, Nek-5000, or equivalent CFD tools.
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics from first principles.
  • Experience with data processing, including pre-processing, post-processing, and scripting.
  • Experience with thermal-hydraulic engineering principles and multiphysics analysis methods, particularly for power systems (preferred).
  • Experience with nuclear engineering principles and multiphysics analysis methods, particularly for advanced reactors (preferred).
  • Experience analyzing heat exchangers, turbomachinery, or fluid control systems (preferred).
  • Competency with modern software engineering practices and programming languages (preferred).
  • Fluency with Python (preferred).
  • Experience with reactor transient analysis methods (preferred).
  • Experience with systems or reactor safety codes such as GOTHIC, RELAP, TRACE, SAM, or SAS4A/SASSYS-1 (preferred).
  • 5+ years of CFD experience in an industrial setting (preferred).
