Description

  • Lead a full-stack engineering team of 6-8 engineers across backend and frontend work.
  • Own end-to-end delivery, including sprint planning, execution, quality, and release.
  • Set clear expectations, manage performance, and develop engineers at every level.
  • Partner with Product Management and XD to turn requirements into deliverable technical plans.
  • Drive architectural discussions and maintain engineering excellence standards.
  • Identify and remove blockers proactively and surface risks early.
  • Build a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Own interview loops and contribute to hiring decisions.
  • Mentor engineers and build a visible talent pipeline.
  • Operate in an agile, DevOps environment where the team owns what they ship.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineering teams.
  • Experience managing senior individual contributors at the P4/Staff level.
  • Strong technical foundation in backend systems such as Java/Spring Boot or equivalent.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and with high quality.
  • Experience with performance management, including coaching, documentation, and escalation.
  • Ability to balance technical debt, feature delivery, and team health tradeoffs.
  • Strong communication skills with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, observability, and microservices.
  • Experience with React/TypeScript or full-stack teams is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Kafka, GraphQL, or distributed data systems is a plus.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted development practices such as spec-driven development, Claude Code, or Copilot is a plus.
  • Experience managing teams through significant transitions, such as new product areas or rapid scaling, is a plus.
  • Background in observability, SRE, or reliability engineering is a plus.
