Description

  • Provide technical leadership to a US-based and international software development team to deliver high-quality software on time and on budget.
  • Lead technical design, architecture, and implementation strategy for software initiatives.
  • Establish and improve engineering best practices across the team.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, including objectives, scope, dependencies, resources, risks, and delivery plans.
  • Facilitate collaboration, resolve issues, evaluate project performance, and drive projects through delivery.
  • Lead standups and other Agile ceremonies.
  • Guide team members’ career development and provide feedback, recognition, and growth opportunities.
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings and performance evaluations.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders and maintain effective communication channels.
  • Coordinate collaboration among cross-functional development teams, software quality engineers, and product managers.
  • Identify process improvements and help optimize software development for quality, innovation, and efficient delivery.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience building and managing high-performance engineering teams.
  • 8+ years of software development experience using Java or similar languages.
  • Experience leading remote teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for people management and mentorship.
  • Experience in biotech or another regulated industry is a strong plus.
  • Proven experience managing highly effective engineering teams.
  • Willingness and ability to manage global teams across multiple time zones.
  • Excellent project management skills in Agile environments.
  • Experience building enterprise applications using Java or similar languages.
  • Expertise in building highly scalable distributed systems.
  • Hands-on coding, design, and architecture skills.
  • Experience creating software for processing Next Generation Sequencing data is a plus.
  • Experience developing software in a regulated environment is a plus.
