Description

  • Analyze denied medical claims, track non-payment trends, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Submit, negotiate, and monitor payment requests, appeals, and independent dispute resolution requests with payers.
  • Develop and improve workflows, processes, and tracking methods for denials and appeals.
  • Serve as a knowledge resource for the Denials and Appeals team.
  • Build working relationships with other departments and vendor operations teams that affect revenue cycle performance.
  • Monitor outcomes of payment resolutions, appeals, and negotiated claims to ensure goals are met.
  • Lead weekly meetings to review metrics, workflows, trends, and performance improvement opportunities.
  • Review billing and coding changes and interpret guidance to determine appropriate departmental actions.
  • Coordinate with management on issues and trends affecting revenue cycle performance.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor implementation and project plans related to process improvement.
  • Educate related teams on performance improvement requirements, operations, and methodologies.
  • Identify and recommend new technologies that support improvement opportunities and company goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a healthcare-related field is strongly preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and insurance collections.
  • Basic knowledge of CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10, modifier selection, and UB revenue codes.
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including pivot tables and LOOKUP functions.
  • Experience using PowerBI.
  • Proficiency with medical billing systems, Microsoft Excel, medical terminology, and basic procedure coding knowledge.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations, and healthcare nomenclature and systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer demands, balance competing priorities, and maintain confidentiality.
