Description

  • Lead backend development and build server-side logic.
  • Own services end to end, including deployment, operations, and production health.
  • Maintain and improve production environments with CloudEng support.
  • Monitor, alert on, and troubleshoot services using observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Sentry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Participate in on-call and off-hours support to triage and resolve production incidents.
  • Handle releases, dependency updates, and support-driven work requests during support rotations.
  • Collaborate with frontend, product, UX, design, and platform partners on goals, APIs, and data contracts.
  • Participate in code reviews to uphold code quality and system reliability.
  • Take part in security and privacy reviews to ensure compliance.
  • Apply AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully to improve speed and quality.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of software development experience with a strong backend focus.
  • Professional experience with Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or Rust.
  • Experience building backend services and leading backend engineering projects.
  • Proficiency with PostgreSQL and SQL query optimization.
  • Experience with relational schema design and migrations using a query builder such as Knex.
  • Hands-on DevOps experience on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience with Docker-based build and deploy pipelines.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Sentry and Grafana.
  • Experience operating services in production, including on-call or off-hours support.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and improving code quality, testing, and engineering processes.
  • Preferred: performance or load testing experience.
  • Preferred: experience with Terraform and Kubernetes.
  • Preferred: open-source contributions or personal engineering projects.
  • Preferred: Django experience.
