Description

  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of Mozilla’s privacy compliance infrastructure, including enterprise data mapping and records of processing activities.
  • Drive cross-functional privacy initiatives and scalable governance processes with minimal oversight.
  • Advise on U.S., European, and international privacy and AI regulatory developments and industry guidelines.
  • Design and operationalize global privacy compliance processes, controls, and documentation frameworks across internal systems and enterprise functions.
  • Manage third-party privacy risk assessments, including vendor DPIAs, LIAs, TIAs, and related due diligence.
  • Support privacy incident response, including triage, risk assessment, escalation, documentation, and remediation coordination.
  • Develop privacy training, intake, and operational processes to improve privacy maturity and reduce friction for internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain and implement a privacy risk framework to support scalable compliance operations.
  • Provide privacy advice for M&A transactions and post-close integration activities.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree and membership in a state bar in good standing, or foreign equivalent.
  • 8+ years of relevant legal experience.
  • Substantial in-house counsel experience advising on global privacy and data governance matters.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining privacy compliance infrastructure, including data mapping, records of processing activities, governance frameworks, risk rubrics, and operational privacy processes.
  • Ability to operate independently and lead complex cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to drive impact with limited resources and deliver practical, scalable outcomes.
  • Experience balancing multiple projects simultaneously and building consensus across cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to distill nuanced concepts for audiences ranging from junior engineers to senior executives.
  • Experience with privacy engineering, governance tooling, or automated compliance workflows is preferred.
  • Experience supporting incident response or privacy investigations is preferred.
  • High fluency in internet technologies and software development is preferred.
  • CIPP or related certification is preferred.
