Description

  • Define, prototype, and validate metrics for autonomy subsystem performance evaluation, with a focus on perception, prediction, and planning.
  • Assess the coverage of existing training and testing and curate test sets that reflect the intended operational design domain.
  • Evaluate machine learning model performance against defined metrics and test cases.
  • Analyze large-scale on-road and simulation data to assess system-level performance and subsystem contributions to system behavior.
  • Define performance requirements for autonomy subsystems and develop analyses to support those targets.
  • Coordinate subsystem-level evaluation with broader systems testing efforts in support of safety case and safety claims.
  • Provide meaningful performance insights to ML developers and collaborate with them to improve model performance on the vehicle.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working on high-tech safety-critical systems or robotics, ideally in a systems or robotics background.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field such as systems, robotics, machine learning, or computer science, or a Bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience analyzing large-scale data used to train and test machine learning models.
  • Experience designing metrics that capture key aspects of system behavior and improve model development.
  • Experience with machine learning model training or familiarity with state-of-the-art ML architectures (preferred).
  • Deep experience in a specific autonomy area such as perception, prediction, or planning (preferred).
  • Knowledge of C++, especially for safety-critical systems (preferred).
  • Experience with systems verification and validation techniques (preferred).
  • Experience with regression testing for deployed software in safety-critical environments (preferred).
  • Familiarity with automotive standards such as ISO 12207, ISO 26262, or ISO 21448 (preferred).
  • Experience with software quality management and assurance standards such as IATF 16949 or ISO 9001 (preferred).
  • Broad understanding of robotics systems, including sensors, actuators, mechatronics, and software systems (preferred).

  • Base salary range of $125,000 to $167,000 USD.
