Description

  • Research, implement, and evaluate deep-learning-based methods for prediction and planning in autonomous vehicle products.
  • Lead, design, run, and analyze experiments and testing on real-world data to assess solution efficiency.
  • Partner with system software engineering specialists to deliver production-grade machine learning models.
  • Collaborate and communicate with cross-functional teams across engineering and research.
  • Contribute to key features for Motional’s autonomous driving platform.
  • Apply machine learning techniques to prediction, planning, and control problems.
  • Support the development of next-generation ML-based planning solutions.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, applied math, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years of proven experience building ML systems for autonomous vehicles or similar robotics applications.
  • Deep understanding of large language models (LLMs) and transformers.
  • Hands-on experience building large-scale production ML systems and deploying them at scale.
  • Experience with deep neural network training, inference, and optimization in frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or TensorRT.
  • Excellent understanding of the mathematical foundations of machine learning and deep learning.
  • Strong research, software development, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent leadership and a track record of innovation.
  • Preferred: prior experience as an ML planning lead.
  • Preferred: proven publication record in ML for planning, vision, or related fields.
  • Preferred: prior experience building and deploying vision-language-action or chain-of-thought models.

  • Base salary range of $271,000 to $373,000 USD.
