Description

  • Lead technical work across perception, localization and mapping, planning, and control.
  • Identify and resolve algorithmic and systems bottlenecks affecting robot reliability and performance.
  • Define stable API contracts and improve production quality through testing, code review, profiling, and architectural discipline.
  • Align multiple engineering teams on technical direction without formal management authority.
  • Mentor senior and staff engineers, review designs, and strengthen organizational technical depth.
  • Translate research methods such as learned traversability, foundation models, and learned planning into deployed capabilities.
  • Lead root-cause analysis for fleet-wide reliability and performance issues.
  • Establish observability, diagnostics, and engineering practices for reliable field operations.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 10+ years of experience building production robotics or autonomy software with Principal- or Staff-level technical impact.
  • Deep expertise in modern C++ and Python, plus ROS/ROS2, Linux, and Git.
  • Experience architecting large-scale autonomy systems across at least two of perception, SLAM/localization, planning, and control.
  • Strong foundation in real-time systems, concurrency, and performance optimization.
  • Ability to lead complex technical efforts across teams and influence decisions without formal authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to explain architectural trade-offs.
  • Preferred: PhD with publications in robotics, perception, or machine learning.
  • Preferred: Experience with legged and wheeled robots, learning-based navigation or planning, simulation tools, fleet observability, or real-world fleet deployment.
