Description

  • Build and support a specific part of Monzo’s product and backend systems.
  • Collaborate with product managers, marketers, researchers, designers, engineers, analysts, writers, and other stakeholders to test hypotheses and improve customer outcomes.
  • Work within a squad and broader collective to deliver product and platform initiatives.
  • Design and develop resilient backend services for distributed systems.
  • Contribute to engineering work that spans areas such as core banking, business banking, wealth, borrowing, growth, payments, platform, fincrime, security, and expansion.
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing and cross-team collaboration across the engineering organization.
  • Take part in the interview process through coding, system design, and behavioral discussions when relevant to the role.

Requirements

  • Strong experience working on the backend of a technology product.
  • Experience with strongly typed languages such as Go, Java, C, or Scala.
  • Interest in distributed systems and writing resilient software.
  • Product mindset with a focus on customer outcomes and data-informed decisions.
  • Comfort working in a team that deals with ambiguity.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new things.
  • No formal qualifications or degree are required for this role.
  • Experience with Go, Cassandra, Kafka, Envoy Proxy, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, or React is relevant.
  • Availability to work from London or remotely across the UK with occasional ad hoc meetings in London.
  • Eligibility for UK relocation support and visa sponsorship is available.
