Description

  • Lead the development and deployment of advanced machine learning models for Business Banking.
  • Develop and deploy models on a cloud-native data platform for a large customer base.
  • Partner with Product, Data Science, and other stakeholders to identify high-impact opportunities and define success metrics.
  • Decide when to use ML, GenAI, or simpler approaches and communicate the trade-offs.
  • Design robust evaluation and monitoring for responsible production deployment.
  • Lead the design and implementation of batch and near-real-time models, including LLM-powered experiences, predictive models, and time-series forecasting.
  • Work with MLOps and Backend Engineering to operationalise models end to end.
  • Set technical standards, mentor others, and support experimentation and iteration.

Requirements

  • Multiple years of experience leading the development and deployment of advanced machine learning models.
  • Experience developing and shipping state-of-the-art ML models to production and delivering business impact.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive work from business problem to measurable production impact.
  • Self-starter attitude with the ability to identify and solve issues proactively.
  • Fluent Python and extensive hands-on experience with scikit-learn.
  • Comfortable using SQL and willing to learn Go.
  • Experience working effectively in ambiguous environments and helping teams resolve ambiguity.
  • Ability to collaborate with Product, Engineering, Design, Research, and Data colleagues.
  • Strong product mindset and data-informed decision-making approach.
  • Thoughtful approach to responsible ML/AI in financial products.
  • Preferred: experience with personalisation, ranking, recommendation, forecasting, classification, or decisioning problems.
  • Preferred: experience in fintech, banking, accounting, payments, lending, invoicing, cash flow, tax, risk, or business software.
  • Preferred: experience with GenAI, LLMs, agentic workflows, retrieval, evaluation frameworks, or human-in-the-loop experiences.
  • Preferred: commercial experience writing critical production code and working with microservices.
  • Preferred: experience designing experiments, A/B tests, or other impact measurement methods.
  • Preferred: experience working in regulated environments where explainability, auditability, and customer trust matter.

Benefits

  • Salary of £115,000 - £150,000 plus Incentive Awards tied to performance.
  • Relocation support to the UK.
  • Visa sponsorship.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Remote working within the UK with ad hoc meetings in London.
  • Learning budget of £1,000 per year for training courses and conferences.
  • Option to work part-time where possible.
