Description

  • Establish trusted leadership within the Payments Leadership team to improve decision-making across Payments and the wider Data Discipline.
  • Co-drive payments strategy and product decisions with Product and Engineering, bringing data into discovery early.
  • Identify commercial optimization opportunities across pricing, commercialization, investment, and customer growth.
  • Set the data strategy for Payments, including operating model, team priorities, architecture, technical debt, and key metrics.
  • Translate between technical, product, and commercial perspectives to support high-impact decisions.
  • Develop and scale a high-performing team of data professionals with shared accountability for product and business outcomes.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Design to support Monzo’s global payments ambitions and expansion into new markets.
  • Modernize the data foundations and support resilient, self-serve banking platform capabilities.

Requirements

  • Experience driving payments innovation and product strategy in a fast-growing business.
  • Deep data expertise combined with strong product and commercial judgement.
  • Ability to move comfortably from detailed metrics and architecture discussions to customer strategy, pricing, and business outcomes.
  • Empathetic people leadership skills with the ability to build trust, raise performance, and retain talent.
  • Experience growing and leading a full-stack data team, including individual contributors and managers across Data Science, Analytics Engineering, Machine Learning Engineering, and Analytics.
  • Experience collaborating with senior cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and risk/control functions.
  • Excitement about Monzo’s mission and the work of making money work for everyone.
  • Comfort solving ambiguous business problems with analytical rigour, commercial viability, and execution effectiveness.

Benefits

  • Base salary of £150,000 - £200,000 plus equity and benefits.
  • Support for relocation to the UK.
  • Visa sponsorship available.
  • Flexible working hours and distributed working within the UK.
  • London office access with ad hoc meetings in London if based elsewhere in the UK.
  • £1,000 annual learning budget for books, training courses, and conferences.
  • Work-from-anywhere within the UK with office support if travel to London is required.
